The Globe Series began as an experiment with acrylics. I was using the paint thickly in a push/pull manner that showed real change in direction. The colors vary to create a temperature for each piece. My sister and I were given tin globe banks to encourage saving. The little banks also encouraged learning about travel and other cultures. The banks were very brightly colored and had gorgeous shades of blue and green for the water. The artwork has a nod to these banks and satellite images of the earth. The paintings are meant to capture vague landforms of the past, present and future. As global warming and climate issues abound, these works imitate what might be.
